Recommendations

Maintain a timeline of all caregiving, agencies contacted, finances, etc.
Communicate in writing, if possible.
For phone calls, advise all parties that conversation is being recorded.

For example

After repeated calls, one agency did send someone; however, that person was so overweight that she could hardly walk from her car to the front door.  Problem: I didn't make note of the person's name or the agency. Maintain written timeline.

After repeated calls, one agency did visit Mr. Malehorn.  There was a lengthy process that involved completing an application.  We were told that his application was approved.  The very next day, we received an urgent phone call.  We were told a second visit was required immediately, that same day.   On that second visit, we were required to complete another application.  That was declined.  Then, we were given more paperwork to follow up on.  Problem: I don't have copies of any of the paperwork.  Ask for copies of all completed forms.

After repeated calls, the Area Agency on Aging told me to stop calling everyone.  They said that they heard that I had been calling numerous agencies and that I needed to stop.  Problem: I don't have a timeline of phone calls, phone numbers, or people who I spoke to.  Record conversations, maintain timeline.
